The oak-leaf type lettuce produces lustrous, deep red leaves. It is very slow to bolt, with a rich, red color and an upright, symmetrical form that make it well-suited for both market gardens and home gardens where superior quality is desired. This antioxidant-rich lettuce is also highly recommended for hydroponic cultivation and out-of-season low-tunnel production. Though rare in this country, it is a very choice variety, containing nearly a day's worth of vitamin A in just a 100-gram serving.
